地球に優しいキャンバスバッグ

Eco-friendly canvas Bags

Hello.
This is Ishida from Atelier nuu Toyooka store.

Right in the middle of the rainy season.
Every day is a battle against frizzy hair caused by the humidity.
While looking forward to summer plans after the rainy season ends, let's endure for now!

Canvas fabric Bags are recommended for the upcoming summer.
Not as heavy as leather Bags, it gives a casual and light impression, perfect for the hot summer.
At Atelier nuu, we handle several types of canvas Bags, but this time I would like to focus on the canvas fabric used.

What exactly is canvas in the first place?
Generally, it refers to a thick plain-woven fabric made from thick cotton or hemp yarn.
It is said to have started around the 15th century in Europe when it began to be used for painting.
In Japan, it is called hanpu.
Although the history and names differ, the fabric is the same, and both have been valued as thick and durable fabrics, becoming used for Bags.

This is the For the blue canvas tote that was released last month.
What makes this canvas slightly different from typical canvas is the materials used.

It is made by weaving nylon recycled from discarded fishing nets and organic cotton.
The appearance and texture are almost the same as regular canvas, with a firm, thick fabric that makes Bags resistant to losing shape.

Currently, Atelier nuu has set a goal as a sustainable initiative to use materials with low environmental impact for all products by 2025.
So, we decided to originally develop canvas fabric, often used for Bags, with environmentally friendly materials.

At first, the texture was too limp, or the color did not feel right.
Since it is a fabric to be used for a long time, we did not compromise and repeatedly prototyped until we could express the ideal texture.
And this is the canvas fabric that was born.
With a firm and resilient texture and a basic, easy-to-use color, it has been finished as an ideal fabric with a luxurious feel.

The fishing nets used in the fabric are actually collected from the sea and recycled.
Fishing nets are part of the marine plastic waste that is causing problems by affecting the marine ecosystem.
Fishing nets sunk in the sea are called ghost nets, and many marine animals get entangled in them.
By actively using recycled materials from discarded fishing nets, it leads to protecting the future of the oceans.

And the other material used is organic cotton.
Organic cotton refers to cotton grown organically that meets strict standards.
While conventional cotton cultivation uses many pesticides, organic cotton is grown using methods that consider safety and make use of nature's blessings.
It is truly an earth-friendly material.

When you know that the Bags have such a sustainable background and use them, you feel even more attached and want to cherish them.
Enjoy this summer with earth-friendly canvas fabric Bags.
